Roman Coin of Antoninus Pius


A bearded right facing bust of Antoninus Pius appears on the obverse, his head adorned with a laurel wreath. Inscribed “ANTONINVS AVG PIVS P P TR P XVII.”

Fortuna, the goddess of fortune, is depicted on the reverse, standing, with a ship’s rudder in her right hand balanced upon a globe and a cornucopia cradled in her left arm. In the Roman religion, Fortuna was considered the personification of luck.
